چکیده

Vector-borne diseases are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in humans animals worldwide. Lyme disease, or borreliosis, is an important emerging vector-borne anthropozoonosis caused by Borrelia burgdorferi. It belongs to the genus Borrelia, phylum Spirochetae. B. burgdorferi gram-negative, flagellated spirochete having loosely coiled spiral morphology. disease distributed many parts Asia, Europe, United States. most common arthropod-borne Due its dramatically increased prevalence, has become public health problem Hunters, hikers, campers, travelers involved outdoor activities forested areas at risk getting infection. characterized fever that may continue for five days. transmitted bite Ixodid tick (also known as black-legged tick), commonly found on deer, rodents, other small mammals. If diagnosed early, can be managed with antibiotics supportive treatment. Severe complications occur immune-compromised, viral-infected, malnourished individuals. poor diagnosis unavailability vaccines, prevention from bites becomes key strategy fight disease.

Molecular Evidences of Ehrlichiosis as an Emerging Zoonotic Disease in Kerman City

Background and Aims: Ehrlichiosis is an emerging tick-borne zoonotic disease caused by the gramnegative coccid obligate intracellular bacteria of the family Anaplasmataceae. Since the only available evidence in regard to monocytic Ehrlichiosis in Iran is related to dogs, the present study was designed to use the polymerase chain reaction assay for confirming the presence of Ehrlichia spp. in...

Bacterial canine vector-borne zoonotic diseases in “One Health” concept

Canine vector-borne diseases constitute a large group of diseases transmitted by arthropods with worldwide distribution. A wide range of bacterial, viral, and parasitic agents that are transmitted by vectors cause disease to dogs, many of which can also affect humans and thus have an important zoonotic potential. Bacterial agents that are transmitted by vectors have been considered less importa...

Important emerging bacterial zoonotic infections affecting the immunocompromised.

The immunocompromised are at particular risk for infection with zoonotic diseases. Persons can be temporarily immunocompromised due to pregnancy or developmental stage (i.e. infants); longer-term or permanent states of immunosuppression can occur as a result of immunosuppressive treatment following cancer or organ transplant, or from infectious diseases, such as AIDS. The focus of this review a...
